Many people call it a case of luck, but I’ve never been one to believe in that sort of thing. A business mentor of mine actually spoke of a critical factor in success a few days ago. He said Success is Planned.

Although this does make since I have to recall the many inventions, inventions that we consider indisposible today, were created out of mistakes or people that barely knew what they were doing. How is this type of success planned.

Quite simple really! Failure does not indicate a lack of success. In fact it precludes the opposite. There had to be a plan to fail at in the first place. Thomas Edison, inventor of the light bulb, attempted thousands of “PLANNED” ways to make the light bulb. Although he failed many times, he planned out his course of action. He set out a solid strategy to reach Success or Failure. Its not so much whether you get it right or wrong, but rather if you took a planned course of action to get there. A plan is your road to success; without a plan you are meandering through life towards a goal you don’t quite comprehend.

A plan not only solidifies the road you will take, but it also can help you define the goal you are pursuing. While planning your success you will have to adjust your plan, and in doing so you learn things in your pursuit about yourself, your road to success, and the success itself. You will almost always tweak your goal. As you tweak the goal becomes more defined.

Sun Tzu’s Essential #5-Take the unprepared enemy
War takes no favorites. Even the mighty can fall, and have fallen. On the battlefield as in life, there is no certainty, only opportunity. And opportunity favors those that are prepared and bold enough to grasp it.

It is crucial that you mix planning with action. Don’t plan so much that you procrastinate to act on plans; vice versa, never act without planning a course of action. A famous quote I like reads, “Vision without action is simply a daydream, and action without vision is a nightmare.” Plans direct your actions, actions cure any fear.

Finished the Pursuit.

The Pursuit by Dexter Yager is an awesome book concerning the path of success. Note that I said the path OF success and not the path TO success. The main premise of the book is that success is found in the pursuit of your goals, not necessarily in the actual achievement. This constant pursuit is true happiness. I suppose this is why people become depressed when they achieve their goals, and have nothing else to live for, or when they lose their passion for something. This is not to say that we should never achieve. It is necessary to achieve, not only to build our self-image, but to make our environment better for ourselves. I want to share some of the things that I learned from reading this book.

Many find failure to be the end all be all, but when you recognize that failure and success are inextricably linked, you can take failure in stride. You must fail in order to succeed, otherwise you won’t appreciate the achievement. Failure builds character. No one likes to fail, but wise people learn from failure and keep going.Failure demands proper action, and anyone that does not act in response to failure has quit and have truly failed. Use botched attempts as reasons to grow and make things work next time. Don’t let failure be the reason you never produce your vision.

Success is a positive attitude, proper work, and Never Giving Up. Often times, we become so consumed with negativity that it is all we can think about. Think about it. We always look for the negative in a person before we even think about searching for the positive, we find every opportunity a reason to be cynical, and we approach life in a cautious because of the negative way instead of a gun-ho because of our positive dreams mentality. If you achieve something but you were fearful and consumed by the negative the whole time, you were just plain lucky. But if you didn’t care about the negative consequences and focused on why you wanted to achieve this you have truly succeeded in your pursuits. Positive attitude is hard to maintain if you have negative sources around you all the time. CUT THEM OFF. They cannot help you, don’t want to help you, and many times will go out of their way to make you stumble. If you want to succeed its important that you learn this one lesson. CAP THE NEGATIVE, AND ABSORB THE POSITIVE. One individual said to me, that Order comes to those who desires to be brought to Order. This means that a person that surrounds himself/herself with Order will automatically have Order in their lives. Their are three facets of life that we must remember to keep in Order. We must absorb PRINCIPLES OF ORDER, put ourselves in PLACES OF ORDER, and surround ourselves with PEOPLE OF ORDER. All of these deserve the same attention. If one is lacking, they all are lacking. It doesn’t matter how much your read, study books, listen to cd’s, attend self-help functions, if you don’t have the right association to back it all up. We thrive off of relationships, and many of our habits and thoughts are formed through who we interact with on a daily. You can sit their and read this and say, “Well I’m my own person and I don’t let anyone influence me.” My friend you are lying to yourself and the sooner you realize this the sooner you can take action to Cap the Negative in your life. Another token of success is the Keep on Keeping On piece. I touched on it a little earlier, but its so extremely important to never give up on what we believe in. Now it is a difference between giving up on your dream, and foregoing something because of growth. Maturity allows us to see what is important in life. Something that is important when you are 12 years of age does not hold the same importance when you are 23 or 40. That being said, when we have a proper goal in mind that is worth our efforts, we should never give up on it. In fact, its when we want to give up the most that we are closest to crossing the finish line. Although we may be tired, beat up and bruised, many times home is right around the corner. They say the night is darkest just before dawn. Don’t give up the fight when you don’t even know how close you are.

Lastly faith sustains success. If success is the pursuit of a vision, then that road of success must be paved with faith. Faith in the vision, faith that the vision is worth it, faith that the higher power is conspiring in your favor. Many people won’t like this statement, but I have to make it known. If you’re operating outside of Jehovah’s favor and power then you are living a crap-game life. Don’t wait until life throws you snake eyes (PLEASE BELIEVE IT WILL EVENTUALLY). Lead with your faith, and it won’t matter how long your road is, you know you will succeed.

It has been said that September is the month of Moment.
Where opportunity is rising and the ground needs the fertilizer of preparedness.
2012 is the year of Foundation. In harvest theory, that year begins now in the fall.

Take advantage of what is before you. Look at your past. Look at what God has been taking you through for the past few months. Everything has led up to this point so that you can utilize your knowledge gained, resources acquired, and skills developed, to propel you into a phenomenal year of change and planting.

If you don’t set yourself up for excitement, IT WON’T HAPPEN. Chance favors the prepared mind. Set yourself up daily for excitement. Don’t wait on the circumstances to be just right. Plan, take action, and make them right. God only helps those who help themselves under Divine Standard. Order follows those who take set themselves around people of order, in places of order, practicing principles of order.

My brother Aaron said this, “The more YOU work on you, and YOU put yourself in the right environment, the more YOU will grow.” The journey to self-discovery is Awesome and the most important part of success. Don’t fight it.

A part of maturity is knowing what is important. Knowing how to prioritize, how to delay the good…for the GREAT, is essential to success.

A TRACK MY BOY ANTWON DAVIS CHURNED OUT A FEW YEARS AGO. THE BOY GOT TALENT.

REMEMBER SUCCESS HAPPENS WHEN OPPORTUNITY AND PREPAREDNESS MEET.

My World-GIMME!!!!

One thing that many of us do that prevent us from succeeding is refusing to own up to our mistakes and failures.

It is said that the most successful people have failed more than the average person. By achiveing. you are risking failure.

Failure prepares you for handling success.

We cannot be scared to fail, otherwise we would never succeed at anything. Samuel Lover stated that “Circumstances are the rulers of the weak; but they are the instruments of the wise.” I REFUSE TO BE A VICTIM OF CIRCUMSTANCE. We see to many of these people in everyday life. They go along with whatever lot life throws at them instead of taking advantage of the opportunity to change something.

I’m reading a book called The Pursuit by Dexter Yager. In it, he states that “the hardest thing for people to understand in success is learning how to maximize their failures.” Now I will admit, at first, I was a little lost. How can you maximize your failure. ITS A FAILURE FOR GOD’S SAKE, WHAT THE HECK IS THEIR TO MAXIMIZE. Yet, I started to think. What did all of my failures have in common. They all had some sort of lesson or learning experience somewhere in them. I always could learn from my mistakes. But before I could learn from my mistakes, I had to realize (face the music, if you will) that I made a mistake. So How to Maximize your Failure starts with:
-OWNING UP TO YOUR ERROR
-LEARN FROM YOUR FAILURE
-ADJUST YOUR PLAN TO ACCOUNT FOR WHAT YOU LEARNED TO AVOID FAILURE AGAIN.

Owning up to your failure, allows you to challenge your self to swallow defeat and self-pity. Winners have no time for self pity, they are too busy building their self image. They understand that it is better to fail in doing something than to excel in doing nothing.

I think point three is an integral part of growth because if you don’t adjust you will do the same thing over and over. If there is one thing that Philosophy 101 has taught me, Insanity is the proclivity to do something over and over, expecting a different result each time. DON’T BE VOLUNTARILY INSANE.

It cracks me up when people say they are not blessed by God, or perhaps don’t understand how we are blessed to simply have breath in our bodies. This breath is evidence that we still have something to accomplish, and also that Jehovah gave me another chance to correct yesterday’s mistakes. Too many people are trying to live their definition of perfection when we really don’t understand what perfection is. Many would say that Jesus is perfect. As this is true, we have to understand the true meaning of this perfection. Jesus, by all means did not have a perfect life. THE DUDE WAS BORN PO’, he suffered as we did; I’m sure when he fell down he said “OWWW” just like us, but what makes Christ so great is that he learned to control his mind. His mind was perfect although his environment was not.

Stop reading how everyone views your failures. Just know that your failures are building your foundation for greatness. Stop being scared to mess up, get out there and get messy, its the only way to find out how tough you are.

Make up in your mind that, “THIS IS MY WORLD, AND I’M GOING TO GET IT NO MATTER HOW MUCH IT FIGHTS.” -DEXTER YAGER

That God has become a disposable safety net, only good for when you need it?

Complacent with the role of spirituality in our lives, we rarely press the bounds and limits of our faith. We rarely question our beliefs to unearth the profound truths of our relationship with the Almighty One.

It sort of irritates me when religion is blindly followed, regardless the belief system. It is apparent that society is festered with a spiritual apathy that continues to stagnate our lives. We trade God for comfort, not realizing that the comfort has a negative side effect on our everyday living. Our mental selves become locked into traditional habit. We become spiritual vegetable—not really connecting with the Higher Power. Monotonous prayer, Mediocre Works, Sub-Par Mindset.

How do we salvage our souls from the pawn shop of habit? Easy, research our spiritual personas (seriously Google the spirit), and understand that fear to know more will only serve as a detriment.
